Yin yang teacher in dramatic landscape (Midjourney)

(True) Bio of a Brighton yoga teacher. I started following people on Instagram who were doing these insane poses. In 3 months I was able to do them and thought it would be awesome to show others. My friend, XXX, was starting up a fitness studio and they asked me to be the yoga teacher. How cool is that?

My bio would only be slightly better as a few months after learning the form, I was teaching it. Not as a class, but first to one friend, then another, until … Back then (1992 ish), the reaction to seeing someone perform the movements was — what is that? — that’s so relaxing to watch — is that really tai chi? — where can I learn? Or occasionally — madman on the loose, call the police (this happened to one of my students).

oon I had a group of five friends with me and I realised that I could pass on the lessons I had learnt the hard way and make it easier for them to learn and remember the sequence — if not with style at least as a pretty good starting point for taking it more seriously.

Come to think of it, here would be an excellent place to show you what I am talking about when I say “tai chi form”— many versions are available on YouTube but here is a version that I like. Can one learn tai chi from YouTube? Probably not — but it can be helpful to remember sequences…
